My Journey of Zen Meditation

我的參禪之旅

My Journey of Zen Meditation

A few years ago, I went to a renown Zen Dojo to practice as a lay Buddhist and began my journey of Zen Meditation. Besides the daily onerous farming chores, at times, I took part in meditation which turned out to be a sleepy session. Other times, I listened to the CD of an old monk. I thought that was all about Zen meditation and I was disappointed. Subsequently, I noticed a few Buddhist nuns acting oddly. I was then told that it was due to various problems occurred during meditation. These nuns remained mentally deranged as they did not have any correct guidance and cure to help them. I was horrified whenever I thought of these side effects of meditation. I was worried that I would become one of these nuns considering the way I practiced my meditation which was full of sleepiness and did not know really what was going on. Seeing these nuns every day while I practiced my meditation, I felt immense pressure – what had gone wrong for these nuns? How could Zen meditation lead them to this state of life? I was completely puzzled…

I remember well, once, during a seven-day retreat, the lead master of the session was grumbling that when the old master at the temple became critically ill, he should not have been rushed to the hospital for emergency rescue, instead he should have stayed and chanted the Buddha’s name beseeching to gain rebirth in the Western Paradise. The lead master questioned why to let him linger on his last breath? Wasn’t it painful? Many people who were present at that time agreed with the lead master that the death of the old master was not to be regretted and he should not have been sent for emergency rescue. I was stunned and found it hard to accept. There was something wrong in that statement. Although I am a lay Buddhist, I raise this question to myself that when one is in a deep state of coma, totally unconscious, can one still gain rebirth in the Pure Land? Can one still do just like what The Buddha Speaks of Amitabha Sutra says, to chant 10 times Amitabha wholeheartedly? It is impossible! Logically, it is not feasible.

Later on, I learned that there was a monk who made a wish to perform a three-year retreat Zen meditation and vowed that if he did not realize his true nature after the retreat, he will return to secular household life. Three years flew quickly and the result was… truly heartbreaking.

After being bashed down by these series of events, as a lay Buddhist, I lost my enthusiasm. I felt like I had entered a dead end. I felt lost. I did not know where I was supposed to go.  I asked myself what the meaning of becoming a nun was when one does not have a meaningful purpose in mind. Unwillingly, I was about to give up and return home. At this crucial moment, I came to listen to the dharma discourses of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. It was like a beam of strong light striking through the dark. All my disappointment disappeared into thin air. At that moment I was determined to renounce myself, and without much longer my wish was fulfilled.

These are just my worldly personal experiences, perhaps I have not even embarked on the Zen meditation journey, but my experiences did reflect some problems faced by some Buddhists during their meditation practice, cultivation, or Buddhist learning. I was fortunate to read The Concentration and Visualization – Essential to Attaining the Path written by Pamu and The Great Dharma Of Zen which was posted over the internet and was transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. I have finally received a complete teaching which helps me to realize what Zen meditation actually is. Moreover, for example, by reading page 216 of Expounding the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I realized the problems of those mentally deranged nuns. It was caused by their attachments to the illusions emerged from the Manas consciousness which made them believe that the illusions were true. They did not understand that “Everything with form is illusory and false.” and eventually they entered a diabolic state of mind. The grumbles from the lead master during the seven-day retreat did not make sense at all. As stated in the article,  The Buddhist Disciple Yu-Sheng Zhao Received a Dharma Transmission Which is True and Not False. If one can perform the dharma as H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III did so that the Yidam, Amitabha Buddha will appear on site and fetch the deceased to the Western Paradise of the Ultimate Bliss, of course, then, the emergency rescue will be unnecessary. However, did the lead master have the required level of power?  In addition, the pitiful monastic who had returned to household life did not know that there is the ultimately holiest Buddha Dharma which can open one’s crown in two hours. The opening is as wide and deep as an egg. The consciousness is free to enter and exit the body. One also can practice outside of the body in complete freedom. Realising one’s true nature is in a near future.

On recollection, what a pitiful group of nuns  I had met. They longed for true dharma and liberation, but because they didn’t come to know the true dharma, because of incorrect guidance and teachings they had received, because of their own attachments, and many other reasons, they cannot attain accomplishment and reach liberation. These kinds of tragedies are still happening, which is heartbreaking. The best dharma is from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, but many living beings are not able to hear it. We have seen some fortunate ones who had the opportunity to come across the true dharma but because of their karmic hindrances and various pressures, they are not able to listen to the true dharma. Therefore, they lost their opportunities to reach liberation from the cycle of birth and death. For this,  I can only deeply sigh as I strongly feel that the correct dharma of the Tathagata is truly rare and difficult to encounter even in hundreds and thousands of millions of kalpas. I am glad that I have the fortune to respectfully listen to and learn the dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

A humble disciple--WanEr LingXi

THE PAINTING “ANCIENT VILLAGE AT REMOTE MOUNTAIN SPRING” BY H.H. DORJE CHANG BUDDHA III SOLD FOR MORE THAN US$900,000 PER SQUARE FOOT AT A PUBLIC AUCTION

US$900,000 -2THIS BROKE THE RECORD FOR THE HIGHEST MARKET VALUE  OF ANY CHINESE PAINTING IN HISTORY

An art auction was held on January 31st by the Master Wan Ko Yee International Cultural Institute. One of the paintings auctioned was a small-scale painting entitled “Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring” created and donated by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. That painting is only 5.6 square inches, which is about one fourth the size of the palm of a hand. Forty-seven people began to bid on that painting. The final selling price was US$35,100, which equals US$902,571.42 per square foot. This is a record-breaking market value for any Chinese painting ever sold in history. Another donated painting, “Lotus Charm,” was created by Compassionate Mother Dr. Yuhua. It is a 2.3-square-foot Chinese painting of lotus flowers. The final selling price was US$50,100, which is US$21,782.6 per square foot.

On January 31st at the five-star San Gabriel Hilton, the Master Wan Ko Yee International Cultural Institute hosted an “Exhibition of National Treasure Level Works of Art by Compassionate Mother Dr. Yuhua and Auction of Small-Scale Art.” The Institute auctioned the paintings “Lotus Charm” and “Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring” to enhance the annual Chinese New Year Celebration that the Institute conducts for its members and to raise money for disaster relief in Haiti. Many dignitaries gathered at the crowded auction site. The many government officials who presented certificates  Dr. Yuhua for her artistic achievements also were present to witness the auction. A notary public from a notary public company was present during the auction to perform notarization.

COMPASSIONATE MOTHER DR. YUHUA IS THE PRE-EMINENT PAINTER OF LOTUS FLOWERS IN HISTORY; THE PAINTING “LOTUS CHARM” WAS SOLD AT A HIGH PRICE

Art created by Dr. Yuhua was specially exhibited by Congress at the nation’s Capitol. Furthermore, the Congressional Record stated that, “In the history of Chinese art, her lotus flower paintings are unsurpassed…” The Congressional Record also stated that her hand-sculpted and hand-painted faux coral and faux cobblestones are “treasures of the world.”

The painting “Lotus Charm” by Dr. Yuhua was, of course, a much sought-after work of art. The market value of an artist’s paintings is calculated on a per square foot basis. The minimum opening bid for the 2.3-square-foot “Lotus Charm” was US$10,000. Forty bidders entered the auction site to bid on that painting. The price was driven up by all of those many bidders, but in the end the winning bid was in the amount of US$50,100, or US$21,782.6 per square foot.

US$900,000 -3The lotus flower paintings by Dr. Yuhua are unsurpassed in the history of Chinese art. Her 2.3-square-foot lotus flower painting called “Lotus Charm” was auctioned for US$50,100.

THE PAINTING “ANCIENT VILLAGE AT REMOTE MOUNTAIN SPRING” EXPRESSES A LOFTY AND BROAD ARTISTIC CONCEPTION; THE ENERGY OF THE CLOUDY MOUNTAINS IS PALPABLE; SUCH A TINY PAINTING SEEMS TO CONTAIN THOUSANDS OF MOUNTAINS; BUYERS WERE BIDDING FURIOUSLY FOR IT

“Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring” is a small-scale painting created by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, who donated it to be auctioned off. An artist who saw that painting said, “Although ‘Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring’ is as small as only one-fourth of the size of the palm of a hand, one can see curling mist, mountains, and cliffs. It truly is a magnificent landscape scene that expresses a lofty and broad artistic conception. The energy of the cloudy mountains is palpable. Such a tiny painting seems to contain thousands of mountains. It is not merely an ink-wash painting. Rather, it is a vivid landscape scene that is brimming with vitality!”

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is a master artist who holds the record for the highest market value of any Chinese painting in the history of the world. In 2000, a painting by His Holiness called “Majesty” sold for more than US$2,120,000 at an international auction. Inscribed on that painting of a group of lions were the Chinese characters “Wan Ko.” It also was stamped with the seal His Holiness uses on His calligraphy and paintings. At another international auction, the painting “Venerable Da Li Won” sold for NT$72,000,000, which equals about US$2,220,000. In 2007, the International Buddhism Sangha Association openly sold a lotus flower painting by His Holiness on which the Chinese characters “Wan Ko” were inscribed. That painting, which is called “Two Flowers; One Lotus Capsule; One Dharma Nature,” sold for US$300,000 per square foot. Another painting by His Holiness entitled “Pasture in Spring” was inscribed with the holy Dharma King name “Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu,” contained the fingerprint of His Holiness, and was stamped with a Dharma King seal. A bidder for that painting offered US$540,000 per square foot.

Prior to January 31st, all of the paintings by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III offered for sale in the international art market were large-scale paintings. January 31st was the first time a small-scale painting by His Holiness was auctioned. As a result, that auction was the focus of much attention. The Chinese characters for “Dorje Chang III” were inscribed on the painting “Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring.”  On the back of that painting are the fingerprint and seal of His Holiness. The minimum opening bid for that work of art was US$8,000. After rounds of intense bidding, the final selling price was US$35,100, which is a market value of US$902,571.42 per square foot. This broke the record for the highest market value per square foot of any Chinese painting in history.

US$900,000 -4The small-scale painting “Ancient Village at Remote Mountain Spring” is only one fourth the size of the palm of a hand, yet it expresses a lofty and broad artistic conception and seems to contain thousands of mountains. It broke the record for the highest market value per square foot of any Chinese painting in history

THERE IS A GREAT POTENTIAL FOR PAINTINGS BY H.H. DORJE CHANG BUDDHA III TO APPRECIATE IN VALUE; COUNTERFEIT PAINTINGS HAVE APPEARED IN THE MARKETPLACE

There are many people in the world today who collect paintings by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III (whose secular name is Master Wan Ko Yee). For example, Guoxing Wang, who is ranked seventh among the ten great and famous Chinese painters, collected several dozen paintings by Master Wan Ko Yee. However, according to appraisals made by Chinese artists, many of those paintings are counterfeit but were stamped with genuine seals. In recent times, numerous counterfeit paintings supposedly created by Master Wan Ko Yee have appeared in society. The reason behind this is that long ago various people in society used various means to collect seals previously used by Master Wan Ko Yee on paintings and calligraphic works as well as personal seals previously used by Master Wan Ko Yee. This has resulted in the confusing situation where counterfeit paintings are stamped with genuine seals.

It has already been publicly revealed that Master Wan Ko Yee has been recognized by eminent monastics and greatly virtuous people around the world as being the true incarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha III. Works of art created by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III now contain His fingerprint. Now, all authentic works of art by His Holiness contain His fingerprint. This fingerprint cannot be counterfeited by anyone. More importantly, information about all of the paintings by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is contained in computer files that can be checked. Anyone who wants to buy a painting by His Holiness should first have that painting authenticated by the Calligraphy and Paintings Authentication Committee jointly established by Superb Art Museum of America, United International World Buddhism Association Headquarters, and International Buddhism Sangha Association. That way, one can avoid being deceived into buying a counterfeit painting.

Any authentic painting that contains the fingerprint of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and about which information is contained in a computer file has great potential to appreciate in value. For example, the painting “Majesty” sold for US$66,250 per square foot in 2000. Ten years later, the current market value for a painting by His Holiness is US$902,571 per square foot, which is about a 13.6-fold increase in value. After the true identity of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was revealed to the world, His Holiness has not had time to paint paintings. Therefore, each of His paintings is extremely valuable and difficult to purchase even with a large sum of money. One can imagine how many times more valuable a painting by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III will be ten years from now. Paintings by His Holiness have the potential to appreciate in value at least several dozen times more than the amount they appreciated in value over the past ten years. It is no wonder that so many people furiously bid on one of His Holiness’s paintings.

“KING” AND “WHITE JADE TREASURE” ARE HIGEST-GRADE FAUX CORAL WORKS OF ART THAT DR. YUHUA HAND-SCULPTED AND HAND-PAINTED

The following art created by Compassionate Mother Dr. Yuhua was displayed at the exhibition: ten lotus flower paintings and two faux coral sculptures called “Supreme Treasure of the Dragon King’s Palace―King” and “Supreme Treasure of the Dragon King’s Palace―White Jade Treasure” (which includes a matching flower vase called Hong Luo Xiu). The latter two works are hand-sculpted and hand-painted word-class, flawless art of the highest quality that were publicly displayed for the first time at the exhibition. The organization hosting the exhibition stated that all of the exhibits created by Dr. Yuhua were borrowed from Superb Art Museum of America.

The first reaction that many had when viewing “Supreme Treasure of the Dragon King’s Palace―King” was, “How is this possible?” They were amazed that there is such huge “coral” in the world. No coral can be found in any of the world’s oceans that is as magnificent, gorgeous, and elegant as this faux coral. It indeed deserves to be called “Supreme Treasure of the Dragon King’s Palace―King.”

The other faux coral sculpture, “Supreme Treasure of the Dragon King’s Palace―White Jade Treasure,” conveys a sense of natural excellence and soft gracefulness that can spring only from the creativity of a remarkable artist. It is a marvelous creation that excels nature’s coral. All who viewed it were amazed. Although all of the faux coral of this sculpture is white, there are many variations of white. Its natural appearance is inexhaustibly beautiful. Most importantly, it provides the viewer with a feeling of comfort and beauty. An expert art critic said, “This is not like ocean coral. It was created from scratch with special material. It is a masterful work of art that was hand-sculpted, painted with oil colors, and polished. It has ample variations of hues and is as lustrous as jade or pearls. Its texture is genuine-looking. Not only does it appear no different from real coral, it even looks much more ancient, elegant, and beautiful than real coral. It is clear that Dr. Yuhua’s painting skills are truly amazing. Having such skills requires cultivation, knowledge, and talent. Having only knowledge and talent is not enough. A high level of concentration is also required. Otherwise, one’s inner-creativity will not emerge in the process of painting. These Chinese paintings and sculptures of hers can truly be called works that embody the highest artistic skills in the world!”

Lotus flower paintings and landscape paintings by other famous Chinese artists were also displayed at the exhibition. By contrast, the lotus flower paintings by Compassionate Mother Dr. Yuhua were vivid, smooth, vigorous, and lively. Her paintings lack even the slightest trace of mediocrity. There is no way that anyone can copy them. It is no wonder that the United States Congressional Record stated her lotus flower paintings are unsurpassed in the history of Chinese art.

According to the estimate of a person affiliated with Superb Art Museum of America, the faux coral works “King” and “White Jade Treasure” are each worth between US$7,000,000 and US$9,000,000. However, those two works have already been given to Superb Art Museum of America, a non-profit public charity organization, and therefore are not for sale.

MANY DIGNITARIES ATTENDED THIS EVENT; FEDERAL AND LOCAL OFFICIALS PRESENTED CERTIFICATES COMMENDING DR. YUHUA FOR HER ACHEIVEMENTS

Many dignitaries or their representatives attended the exhibition and presented certificates to honor the achievements of Dr. Yuhua or to congratulate her. Among those dignitaries who attended in person or through their representatives were Congresswoman Dianne Watson, Congressman Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Judy Chu, California State Assemblymen, the California State Controller, the five supervisors of Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the mayor of Pomona, the mayor of Cerritos, the Vice-Mayor of Alhambra, the mayor of Monterey Park, the mayor of South Pasadena, the mayor of Redondo Beach, the Sherriff of Los Angeles County, and others. There was a continuous flow of people who attended the exhibition, making a very grand occasion indeed.

The Explanation of the Buddha’s Title – “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

On April 3, 2008, a solemn and dignified first-publishing ceremony of a fact-recording book entitled H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, which published jointly by the World Buddhism Publishing LLC and the World Dharma Voice, Inc., was held at the Library of the Congress of the United States. The book was also formally accepted into the collection of the Library of the Congress of the United States. Only since that time, did people in the world know that Master Wan Ko Yee, who had been broadly respected by the great masses and who had also been known as Great Dharma King Yangwo Yeshe Norbu, had been recognized by the world’s leaders, regent dharma kings, and great rinpoches of Buddhism through official documents as the third incarnation of Dorje Chang Buddha, who is the primordial Sambhogakaya Buddha of the universe. The Buddha’s name is H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Since then, people began to address His Holiness the Buddha by “Namo[1] Dorje Chang Buddha III.” This is similar to the situation that Sakyamuni Buddha’s name was Prince Siddhartha Gotama before attaining Buddhahood. However, after Sakyamuni Buddha had attained Buddhahood, His title changed to “Namo Sakyamuni Buddha.” That is why we now address His Holiness the Buddha as “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.”

In particular, on December 12, 2012, the Senate Resolution No. 614 of the United States Congress officially used “His Holiness” in the name addressing Dorje Chang Buddha III (That is to say, “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.”) Since then, the title and status of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has been definitive by nature. And, as a matter of fact, “Dorje Chang Buddha III” is a name used legally in governmental and official legislative documents. Therefore, the previously used respected name and titles such as “Wan Ko Yee,” Great Master, and Great Dharma King no longer exist.

However, the news below was published before the Buddha’s title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was publicly announced. At that time, people did not know about the true status of His Holiness the Buddha. Therefore, to respect the true history, we still kept the names used before the title of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was legitimately determined in republishing this news. However, all must clearly know that the only legitimate name of His Holiness the Buddha is H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and all other names used before the legitimate determination no longer exist.

Master Wan Ko Yee (H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) was born in China and now resides in the United States where he also is distinguished researcher and university professor. Master’s Yun sculpting is a form of art that he successfully founded in the United States for the benefit of mankind. Through this unprecedented form of art, Master Wan Ko has created carvings that rival the beauty of nature’s creations.

Master Wan Ko Yee’s (H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III)  pioneering sculpture basically deals with the carving of stone material into the form of an oval boulder, which is then carved hollow. Inside this hole is a mysterious and changing world where wondrous mist is constantly circling upward, making the Master the only person who has been able to create mist within this type of carvings. His innovative technique also makes it currently impossible to duplicate his sculptures.

When viewing his Yun sculptures. one experiences a carefree and peaceful feeling that is difficult to describe. No beautiful scenery in any limestone cave in the world can compare with Master Wan Ko’s incredible Yun sculptures, which are inexhaustibly gorgeous. Yun sculptures contain various layers of sights that seem to be constantly changing, offering splendid colors not comparable to anything in the world.

Master Wan Ko was able to create these treasures based upon his high state of realization, profound and extensive knowledge, as well as his understanding of the laws that underlie birth, growth, and transformation of all things in the universe.

What Should We Do about the Matter of Death?

What Should We Do about the Matter of Death

What Should We Do about the Matter of Death?

I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!
I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!
I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

Layperson Hou Yushan, a university professor in physics, ascended to the World of Ultimate Bliss (Webpage in Chinese)

Layperson Lin Liu Huixiu in Seattle ascended to the World of Ultimate Bliss in a sitting pose (Webpage in Chinese)

While they were alive, the dharma brother and dharma sister worked diligently on their own duties to take care of their family and do volunteer work. Later, they became seriously ill. At such critical moment, they encountered extremely magnificent affinities with the dharma. They respectfully and faithfully listened to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha IIIand had the opportunity to pay respect to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in person. With boundless compassion, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III transmitted the dharma to them. Through diligently practicing the dharma, they ascended to the World of Ultimate Bliss. Living beings should all think and seriously ask themselves a question. Who can be guaranteed to ascend to the World of Ultimate Bliss??

After attending the funeral/farewell ceremony for Layperson Hou Yushan, I recalled the time I was having dinner with Layperson Lin Liu Huixiu while she was already terminally ill. The memory of her reminding me to start eating was as fresh and vivid as yesterday. The karmic condition that caused me to learn the Buddha-dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III also resurfaced in my mind…

At the age of over 80, my grandpa was stricken in bed with pneumonia. In the early morning on that day, he was unable to breath on his own and a tube had to be inserted to feed oxygen in. The suffering caused him to be tied up on the bed yowling for several hours. Eventually, the misery ended at four o’clock in the afternoon. Despite having a strong will to live, he was nevertheless overpowered by the devil of illness and left the world unwillingly. The tragic scene before his death still appears before my eyes…In the morning of that day, grandpa could still talk and move normally. Using hand gestures to help explain, he repeatedly mentioned the time of 4 o’clock in the afternoon to me and my mother. Perhaps he already knew that the Yama King would soon come to take him…

Grandpa’s passing away greatly affected my view toward life. He was at the hospital at the time. I watched with my own eyes him stepping into the impermanence of death. I was unable to help him in any way. His death was like a horrible dream to me. I suddenly woke up to the fact that a person will die… Even the doctor can’t do anything. Where does one go after death? What can we do about that? What can we do about that?

I had never heard about H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III before then. My karmic forces were very heavy. I would doze off when listening to chanting sutras. I was only fond of pursuing worldly good fortune. To quest for the answer of what to do about death, I began to listen to the dharma expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. At the very beginning of listening to the recorded dharma discourses, to tell the truth, I could not get most of what I heard due to my inability to understand the accent. However, any small paragraph that I could understand made me feel like getting precious treasures, even though I did not have any background in Buddhism. Through this process of entering deeply to achieve a simple and explicit understanding, I heard the truth about the universe and human life. The words of “formation, abiding, decaying, and vanishing” sounded extremely precise and accurate. What is impermanence? Why do we have to end birth and death! The dharma expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is so great and magnificent!

After respectfully listening to the recorded dharma discourses expounded byH.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I have understood what impermanence is about. I am no longer worried or in fear. I also have adjusted the emphasis of my life and do not solely go after worldly enjoyment.

A person will die… Even the doctor can’t do anything. Where does one go after death? What can we do about that? What can we do about that? Actually these questions have been explained very clearly in the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and are very minor problems……

Do you have questions about ascending to the World of Ultimate Bliss?
Do you have questions about Arhat, Bodhisattva, and Buddha?
If you can respectfully and seriously listen to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, you will have all the answers.
The accomplishment one attains depends on one’s own cultivation, conduct, and level of practice.

I am boundlessly grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

I beseech and wish living beings have the opportunity to hear the dharma expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and all attain perfect good fortune and wisdom, great accomplishment, and great liberation!

I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!
I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!
I most sincerely prostrate to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III_Cultivators Should Become Buddhist Disciples in Holy Sense with Correct Faith and Real Cultivation

Cultivators Should Become Buddhist Disciples in Holy Sense with Correct Faith and Real Cultivation

Many people say they have faith in Buddhism and therefore naturally regard themselves as Buddhists. However, these numerous Buddhists who regard themselves as having faith in Buddhism are at many levels and a mixture of true Buddhists and false ones and have all kinds of people in them. Among them, there are people who truly believe in Buddhism and have the correct faith, there are people who regard themselves as having the faith but really do not have the correct faith, some falsely claim to have the faith, and there are descendants of Mara Pipiyan who infiltrated into Buddhism to do damages. That is why the Buddhist world is full of chaos in this dharma-ending era. This situation requires true Buddhists and Buddhist disciples with the correct faith to open up their eyes to clearly distinguish what is true and what is false and determine what is right and what is wrong, in order to advance on the correct Bodhi path toward liberation and accomplishment without deviating aside.

There is only one way to achieve that goal. That is, taking the dharmas of the Contemplating the Magnificence of Perfect Prerequisite Oceanic Mind Essence and the Most Magnificent Bodhi Dakini Oceanic Mind Essence in the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation and What Is Cultivation expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III as the guiding compass for absolutely correct cultivation, earnestly learning from and studying the dharma Expounding the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra expounded by H.H.Dorje Chang Buddha III, and diligently listening to the recorded supreme dharma lessons expounded by H.H.Dorje ChangBuddha III.

Buddhist is a noun with broad meanings. Within the scope of this concept embodying a wide range of meanings, quite many people are really just “followers” or even “visitors paying the respect of burning incense.” Their knowledge about Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is just knowing the concept. They only have the so-called faith in Buddhism but have not taken refuge or made deep study or investigation. Basically, they are still invaded and corroded by the three poisons in their daily life, do things based on their own opinions, and do not cultivate or practice in accord with the Buddha’s teachings and warnings. When they go into temples to burn incense and pay respect, they beseech only rewards of good fortune in the current lifetime such as making big money in business, getting promotion or advancing to a position of power, happiness and harmony in family life, good health, and so on. Some of them cannot even tell the difference between Buddhism and Daoism and pay respect to deities and ghosts as well. That is absolutely a false faith in Buddhism without any understanding. Therefore, strictly speaking, such “Buddhist followers” really cannot be regarded as Buddhists.

There are also quite some Buddhists who, though having taken refuge in Buddhism, have not become clear about the approach of learning the absolute truth of Buddha-dharma and practice Buddha-dharma selectively as worldly ways. Some of them even have incorrect or evil knowledge and views. Their cultivation falls into superficiality and becomes a futile effort. They think that believing in Buddha’s existence and having taken refuge in Buddhism are the entirety of a Buddhist’s faith. Their faith in Buddhism is not a pure faith and is not an indestructibly firm faith. Their faith is a “faith that can be overpowered,” which can be easily shaken, overpowered, and abandoned. Their faith is an “intermittent faith.” They sometimes have faith and sometimes have doubt. A slight disturbance can cause them to generate doubt, enter into delusion, and lose confidence. Their faith has reversals and impediment and is not always clear and pure. This type of cause from such impure and contaminated faith definitely cannot bear wonderful fruit of accomplishment and liberation. This kind of faith has an extremely weak foundation and of course is not a true faith. Therefore, the refuge ceremony they have taken is just a formality and cannot represent a true faith in Buddhism.

One who does not have a true faith of course will not have a correct understanding and will not put the faith into action. Therefore, these people will not clearly believe in cause and effect and will not truly know impermanence, much less fear impermanence. Rather, they have deep and severe attachment to the self and always treat things related to them as important and having a higher priority than Buddhist work. They may even list conditions and offer deals to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to ask Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to give them what they want first before doing Buddhist work. How can such cultivation and conduct receive protection and empowerment from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas? How can there be benefits and rewards from learning Buddhism to speak of? Thus, in today’s world, although countless people claim they have faith in Buddhism and cultivators of Buddhism are numerous and everywhere, very few of them can truly receive beneficial rewards. Instances of ending the cycle of birth and death are even rarer. Shouldn’t this situation cause the attention and vigilance of Buddhist disciples learning Buddhism?

The goal of believing in and learning Buddhism is for attaining liberation and accomplishment and becoming a holy one. Therefore, Buddhists questing for liberation and accomplishment should strive to plant and grow the cause of true faith to get the wonderful fruit of liberation and accomplishment and let themselves become veritable disciples of Buddhism with true faith and correct faith. Then, where does true and correct faith come from? Of course it comes from piously cultivating Buddhism through concrete steps. Buddhists with true and correct faith should believe in not only the Buddha’s real existence but also the Buddha’s teachings and precepts, develop strong power of vow from the inner mind to uphold, follow, and carry out the Buddha’s teaching, develop the power of determined faith to regard the principle of Buddha-dharma as the sole standard of selection and the guiding principle of conduct, and strictly and firmly act in accord with the teaching to generate the power of true faith from the inner mind. With such premise, we can establish the determination to cultivate Buddhism, clearly believe in cause and effect, diligently practice the ten actions of goodness and the four limited states of mind, and broadly cultivate the six paramitas through all acts. On the other hand, a person who is deeply plagued by heavy attachment to the self and only superficially obey Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ teachings and precepts will never step onto the path of Bodhi toward liberation and accomplishment even after reading the Tripitaka exhaustively.

Therefore, disciples of Buddhism who truly intend to cultivate Buddhism to attain liberation and accomplishment have to become Buddhist disciples in the holy sense with true faith and real cultivation. Buddhist disciples in the holy sense are in true correspondence with the Buddha’s teaching and the purpose of learning Buddha-dharma and can thoroughly see the true such-ness of mind nature. Such is the meaning of the holy sense. To possess the status of the holy sense, Buddhist disciples must concurrently pursue progress in all three aspects of Buddhism. Only by advancing in all three aspects coherently as a whole can one be regarded as a Buddhist disciple in the holy sense. These three aspects are: the teaching of Buddhism, the study of Buddhism, and Buddha-dharma. Moreover, the three aspects must be combined perfectly to comprise one entity.

The teaching of Buddhism includes the Buddha’s teaching that has been transmitted through the time and historical facts about Buddhism. Among them, there are true events of the Buddha, historical backgrounds, records of the origin and propagation of Buddha-dharma, karmic conditions related to expounding specific dharmas, references and publications of the dharma expounded by the Buddha, rules of Buddhism, and so on. The study of Buddhism refers to Buddhist scriptures, the origin, development, and timeline of Buddhist sects and schools, and the principles and philosophy within Buddha-dharma; all are investigated theoretically using the method of academic research. Buddha-dharma is the special dharma gates transmitted from the Buddha that can enable cultivators transcend the mundane world and enter holiness, methods to lead one into the practice toward liberation and to break away from mundane attachments, including mantras, visualization, mudras, mandala, dharma instrument, the three secret practices of body, speech, and mind, and utilization of the power of siddhi (accomplishment) within the dharma sphere.

It is true that becoming a Buddhist disciple in the holy sense is not easy. However, that is the goal that every Buddhist disciple must pursue and also the only path of cultivating Buddhism toward liberation and accomplishment. Moreover, achieving that goal requires a pious devotion toward the Buddha, focusing the mind on goodness, and pure cultivation of one’s body, speech, and mind.

Due to our rewards of good fortune accumulated through many lifetimes and eons, we live in this era with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s presence. Additionally, we also have the magnificent karmic conditions that allow us to closely follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in learning Buddhism. We can listen with our own ears the recorded dharma lessons expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and respectfully beseech the treasure books with dharmas expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Moreover, many Buddhist disciples among us have personally received initiations transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in person. How lucky and fortunate we are! What reason do we have for not diligently learning Buddhism and cultivating ourselves! We must make our vow to become a one-hundred-percent Buddhist cultivator with true faith and correct faith and strive to be Buddhist disciple in the holy sense with clear and pure cultivation. We must attain liberation and accomplishment in the current lifetime! Amitabha!

Statement From the World Peace Prize Awarding Council

WASHINGTONJune 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The World Peace Prize Awarding Council held a grand award ceremony on June 14, 2011 in the Gold Room at the U.S. Capitol to express our respect for the recipients of the 2010 World Peace Prize: H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, prominent leader of Buddhism in the world; Hon. Benjamin A. Gilman, former Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The ceremony, chaired by Dr. Han Min Su, founder of the World Peace Prize Awarding Council, was graced by the presence of Senator Mark Kirk, member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations; former Senator Steve Symms; Congresswoman Illeana Ros-Lehtinen, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States Congress; Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform; Congressman Steve Chabot, member of the U.S. House Committee on Judiciary; and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, member of the Committee on Homeland Security; Congresswoman Corrine Brown, Chairwoman of the Transportation Subcommittee on Railroads. They all commented on the great achievements of the awardees, who have contributed tremendously to peace and enlightenment for humanity. This event, awarded for the 2010 recognition to those deserving recipients, is part of a continuing program by the World Peace Corps Mission to recognize the outstanding work of individuals who make major contributions for the establishment and maintenance of peace.

Statement From the World Peace Prize Awarding Council-2

In view of some recent comments that the World Peace Prize Awarding Council has received from individuals and groups, expressing their misconceptions and misunderstanding. Our Council hereby issues this statement.

The co-founder of the World Peace Prize Awarding Council, Dr. Han Min Su, is a Christian leader from South Korea. The foundation of his entire life has been to preach Christianity and morality. He has spared no efforts in advancing world peace and furthering friendship and love among humankind. Wherever he goes, he is well respected within the international community as a minster of high moral character, a kind-hearted leader promoting inter-religious collaboration and world peace.

The Chief Judge of the World Peace Prize Awarding Council, Hon. Lester Wolff, is an experienced and distinguished statesman who has worked hard his entire life for world peace. His contributions to peace and development in Asian countries are especially remarkable. He is the author of the United States Congress “Taiwan Relations Act.” In 1978, he met with Deng Xiao-Ping, the Father of Modern China, and laid down the principles and foundation for diplomatic relations between the United States and China. At the same time, he successfully assured peace and development for both sides of the Taiwan Straits. He also introduced amendments to the White House sponsored Foreign Assistance Act of 1979 to restore the initiative for direct peace talks between Israel and the Arab States.

Dr. Suzi P. Leggett has been involved with politics and has worked in Congress over a long period of time. She has been the Chief of Staff of a former Speaker of the House. Her husband, the late Hon. Robert Leggett, was the co-founder of the World Peace Corps Mission, a legislator of great fairness, impartiality, and integrity. While in Congress, he served on the House Armed Services Committee and Budget Committee, and was Chairman of the Panama Canal Zone House Merchant Marine and Fishery Committee and co-chairman of the National Security Task Force.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, recipient of the 2010 World Peace Prize Top Honor Prize recipient, was recognized by more than 50 eminent dharma kings, regent dharma kings, and great rinpoches from major Buddhist sects around the world: H.H. Dharma King Dumu Qujie, the Root Master of the 17th Karmapa; H.E. Goshir Gyaltsab, a regent dharma king and national master; H.E. Sharmapa, a regent dharma king; H.H. Dharma King Trulshik, H.H. Taklung Tsetrul, and H.E. Chogye Trichen, all three of whom are Masters of the Dalai Lama; H.H. Dharma King Dodrupchen Thupten Trinle Palzang, H.H. Dharma King Penor, H.H. Dharma King Achuk, H.H. Dharma King Jigme Dorje, amongst others. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is the most widely recognized leader in the history of Buddhism.

In the past decade, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha has suffered greatly for withstanding long-term persecution for his religious activities. A member country of the Interpol has once requested the Interpol to issue a warrant for His arrest. The request was subsequently withdrawn voluntarily by this member country after some years. Upon thorough investigation, in October of 2008, the 72nd session of the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files withdrew the arrest warrant and the entire case against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Interpol also issued a document stating in definite terms that the arrest warrant against H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has been cancelled and all of its member countries have been notified of the cancellation.

Although H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III long ago received official notification of the withdrawal of the arrest warrant and the removal of the entire case, He has never shown such documents to prove His innocence. Regardless of the slander He has endured, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III did not disclose such ironclad evidence. When the World Peace Prize Awarding Council found out, and asked H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III about this, He responded by saying that what He must do is bear all of the karmic offenses committed by living beings and give to living beings all of the good karma and merit that He has planted. He said that if He proved His innocence by showing those documents, then those who slandered Him would no longer be seen as innocent. Who, He asked, will bear their karmic offenses?

His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III is more than deserving of the Top Honor Prize as He exemplifies the nobility of selflessness; a model of morality for all to emulate. He also demonstrated how peace is often attained by determination, humility and the perseverance to advance its cause in the face of adversity.

Hon. Benjamin A. Gilman, also recipient of the World Peace Prize Top Honor Prize, is a distinguished statesman who served as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a long period of time. He is a life-long champion of human rights: fighting world hunger, narcotic abuse and trafficking. He has made many successful efforts to bring about “prisoner exchanges” which resulted in freedom of American citizens in East GermanyMozambiqueCuba and several other countries. Congressman Gilman served 15 terms, a total of 30 years in the U.S. Congress. Prior to that, he served 6 years in the New York State Legislature as Assemblyman, and several years as Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Department of Law. While in Congress, he served as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and as Congressional delegate to the United Nations with title of Ambassador, and later the Ukrainian Famine Commission and Vice Chairman of the Committee on POW’s. Mr. Gilman has been a recipient of numerous honors including the President’s Certificate of Outstanding Achievement “for continued, demonstrated vision, initiative, and leadership in the effort to achieve a world without hunger” and has annually received the “Peace Through Strength” Award presented by the American Security Council.

The World Peace Prize Awarding Council operates according to the core spirit of advancing peace and justice and inter-religious collaborations. The Council is led by co-founder and executive judge Dr. Han Min Su with esteemed members including Chief Judge Hon. Lester Wolff, former Chairman of the United States Congress Asian Affairs Committee; Dr. Suzi P. Leggett, advisor to one of the former Speaker of the United States Congress; Hon Asher Naim, former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations; Hon. Bhupatry M. Oza, former Ambassador of India; Hon. Peter Lewis, former Speaker of the South Australian House of Assembly; Dr. Kong Shiu-Loon, former advisor to the UNESCO; General Gennady P. Turmov, retired General of Russia.

Preaching and promoting peace is an arduous and sometimes thankless task. Those in the vanguard continue to become targets of others who lurk in the darkness to attack the peacemaker and attempt to undermine their efforts. That is why we established the World Peace Prize, to encourage continuing efforts towards peace and to defend the Peacemaker against scurrilous diatribes that put into question the motivation of well meaning and dedicated individuals.
