Chinese Paintings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III-2

In his art, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has indeed assimilated the essence of traditional Chinese painting. Not only has His Holiness leaned from the painting traditions of Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasty scholars, His Holiness has also easily mastered the grand and vigorous style of pre-Song dynasty painting, Yet, H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has not merely emulated the techniques of any one painter or any one school. His Holiness has learned from ancient artistry and has also learned from nature. Combining the two, His Holiness has created a novel and unique style of his own. From a careful examination of paintings by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, it is not difficult to see the legacy of tradition and the spirit of originality. The paintings of previous generations of Chinese artists cannot match His Holiness’s paintings. *

The appreciation of every painting will bring us to a state that is beyond words. With our ordinary eyes, it is impossible for us to perceive the kind of level it requires for one to be able to create such details and vividness in a painting. We can only say that the manifestation of the Craftsmanship Vidya of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III proves to us the magnificence of Buddha Dharma.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III- Calligraphy

An example of a qi jue poem

04-12 p250-340Calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III- An example of a qi jue poem

From ancient times to the present, no product of an art or field of study has been able to reflect a person’s moral character and knowledge—except for calligraphy. The aura created by a person’s achievements or creations in a certain form of art or field of study often covers up his shortcomings in knowledge and character. However, calligraphy is an exception to this rule. Calligraphy is like a three-dimensional projecting mirror. The depth of one’s knowledge, the level of one’s moral character, and the strength of one’s mind are revealed through each stroke of the brush. There is no way to conceal such things. When looking at the quality of a person’s ordinary writing of Chinese characters, most people can discern the level of that person’s education. This is all the more true with respect to looking at a person’s calligraphy.

One cannot find in any history book an unknowledgeable person who has made a contribution to calligraphy. Those with profound and extensive knowledge are not necessarily proficient in calligraphy. However, a great calligrapher must have both knowledge and good brushwork. Without exception, all of the famous calligraphers throughout the generations were great masters of literature who had profound knowledge. Examples of this include ancient calligraphers such as Xizhi Wang, Su Huai, Shaoji He, Huaiguan Zhang, and Fei Yue. A modern example is Youren Yu. Each one of them was an extremely learned literary giant and paragon of virtue.

Knowledge is the pillar and cornerstone of calligraphy. Moral character can be seen in the style and charm of calligraphy. Thus, calligraphy requires both knowledge and moral character.

The calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Wan Ko Yeshe Norbu Holiest Tathagata is not bound by worldly conventions and is devoid of unnecessary flamboyance. It is highly refined and based upon ingenious artistic conception. His Holiness’s strokes are sometimes written in a swift curling style. However, in an instant, His Holiness can express the innocent and natural charm of a child. There is wonder in even common strokes. His calligraphy is naturally graceful, exhibiting depth and brilliance. The calligraphy of His Holiness contains an invisible force that makes the characters seem much grander than they appear on a superficial level. His strokes look harmoniously smooth and unbroken. The Chinese characters may appear strong and vigorous, like a soaring dragon or mighty tiger. They may appear clear and gently elegant, like slowly floating clouds, cranes flying among pine trees, or dancing swans. They may appear simple and unadorned, like the free heart of a child. They are gracefully understated and completely devoid of any mundane quality. The calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is natural in quality and resonates with the true nature of the universe. A deep power underlies His Holiness’s strokes.

The ability of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to reach such great heights in calligraphy is completely due to His Holiness’s vast knowledge and profound talents. Of course, His Holiness is extremely adept at learning from the styles of others since this is a simple matter for a Buddha. For example, even in the initial stage of learning calligraphy, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had solid skills in the traditional cursive style of writing and also had extensive learning. We can see from the first calligraphic work in this book the adroitness His Holiness had when He was first learning this cursive script.

There is also a qi jue poem written by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. A qi jue poem is a four-line poem with seven characters to a line and a strict tonal pattern and rhyme scheme. The phonetic reading of the poem is as follows: “hua gong ri yue li yang tian, xi cheng xi feng liu yue xian, gu peng lai cong ba sheng wang, shi zhi shu qi yi dong can.” One can see that this work has surpassed all traces of the mundane and has transcended all earthly impurities. Its style is lofty and pure.

When that poem was written, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was living in the seclusion of an ancient temple. His Holiness used his extraordinary realization to express his thoughts and feelings. The first line expresses that although His Holiness lived alone and secluded in the room of a temple, He governed the universe and bestowed blessings upon living beings. Thus, the first line reads, “hua gong ri yue li yang tian.”

The next line, “xi cheng xi feng liu yue xian,” conveys the scene that during the idle month of June H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III bathed in the Buddhastate of coolness while under the scorching sun. His Holiness was free of all worldly cares and attachments, and his body merged with the universe. When friends came, His Holiness heard the horns of their cars, but He had already transcended the world, residing in quietude and non-action. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III kept no notion of the date, and His Holiness’s mind did not abide in anything whatsoever. The people of the world were ignorantly attached to the changing seasons and came in their cars and horses to inform H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that summer had long passed and the winter was about to end. The ancient Buddha acknowledged this and smiled.

One can see from this how the calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has completely transcended the mundane. It is the calligraphy of a true Buddha. His Holiness’s calligraphic skills have reached such a pinnacle due to His complete realization in the Five Vidyas.

In recent years, there are works of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that have been written in the cursive mode of calligraphy, showing a flowing and unobstructed style, and expressing even more than before the charm of this writing technique. For example, the work Fei Cui Jade expresses the spirit of an immortal or Buddha, thoroughly transcending the three worlds of reincarnation, standing proudly above the five elements of the universe. It is truly calligraphy beyond the category of calligraphy, expressing a feeling that incorporates the whole universe.

His Holiness’s calligraphy of the Chinese characters lang ga luo bu (Treasure of Heaven) excels the writing of calligraphers throughout history. It transcends all traces of worldliness. It expresses deep strength, like that which can break jade. The style of another calligraphic work called wu wo nai da cheng (No-Self Is Great Accomplishment), conveys the firmness and simplicity of steel and the vigor of a sharp knife. However, these same characters also contain delicate beauty. That calligraphic style truly surpasses styles of the past and present.

Another calligraphic style of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is revealed in the writing of the Chinese characters xiao bu dian (Tiny). Such calligraphy shows the childlike innocence of a very old man, and its arrangement expresses the utmost ease and lack of rigid constraints. It is high-class calligraphy that does not even seem to be calligraphy. It is so elegant and refined that it completely transcends the mundane.

Beholding the character sheng (holy) written by His Holiness, one can see that it simultaneously embodies both the softness of ribbons and the innerfirmness of steel. Its inner beauty flows to the surface. Another example is the character fo, which means Buddha. The writing of that character demonstrates that His Holiness has truly attained the summit of calligraphic skills that the ancients extolled in the old saying, “the old pine branch cannot be weighed down by heavy snow; the might of a brush will lift a thousand-pound bronze cauldron.”

In fact, the calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has a deep foundation and an internal richness. It embodies the manifold sensations that one could possibly experience in one lifetime. The essence of all things in the universe converges at the tip of His Holiness’s brush. With such a transcendent state of realization, the myriad things of the universe are in the palm of this Buddha. The calligraphy of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is like a treasury. It can be vigorous, smooth, or naturally beautiful. His Holiness incorporates the best techniques of all of the schools of calligraphy. No words can really describe this! If you want to see lively and energetic flourishes of the brush, you can. If you want to see characters with adamantine firmness, you can. If you want to see strength within softness, you can. If you want to see the childlike innocence of a very old man, you can. If you want to see charm, purity, and wonder, you can. In other words, His Holiness’s calligraphic skills have reached the highest degree of proficiency and naturalness that only a Buddha could reach!

A Rock of Horizontal Charm by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

A Rock of Horizontal Charm by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III-2A Rock of Horizontal Charm by H.H. Dorje Chang BuddhaIII

The sculpture A Rock of Horizontal Charm is a masterpiece of Yun Sculpture, embodying the spirit of an art surpassing the beauty of nature, created by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for humankind. Derived from an art form created by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III that possesses beauty beyond nature’s, it has attained a realm –never before seen in human history – of artistry transcending nature, originating an art form in this world that is irreplicable by any craftsman or high technology.
Granted, more than ten years ago, we had already heard someone call a particular sculpture a “peerless treasure.” To speak truthfully, however, we could not concur with such an appellation. “Peerless” is not a word to use lightly. Only that which is truly in a league of its own in the world can properly be called peerless. A “peerless treasure” must attain the pinnacle of unrivaled preciousness in order to be so named. From ancient times to the present, how many sculptures can truly be christened a peerless treasure? It can be said that not even one can be found. Even the He Shi Bi (the Jade Disc of He), recorded in history as a treasure of monumental value, does not fit the title of “peerless treasure,” since it is completely replicable— and if it can be replicated, it is not unique; if it is not unique, it is not peerless. In fact, any master sculptor’s magnum opus can be recreated and, on this basis alone, is unfit to be designated a “peerless treasure”!
Our most indelible encounter with the appellation of “peerless treasure” came in 2017, when we saw the sculpture A Rock of Horizontal Charm for the first time. We were immediately awestruck, and in the moment we were simply moved to praise it from the heart, unable to find the most appropriate laurel with which to crown it, and could only pronounce that the laurel of “peerless treasure” belongs to no other! Therefore, this museum has named the room in which A Rock of Horizontal Charm is exhibited, “Peerless Treasure.” Just how remarkable is this sculpture? We must acknowledge that its extraordinary charm and beauteous spirit exceeds the highest realm of human sculpture, and truly manifests

Endless changes of spirit and feelings unfold
Mysterious motions envelop wonders untold
Only in heaven is such a presence found
No handiwork of artisan earthly bound

This divine sculpture is ranked the first, as the “emperor,” and will be shown to the public for the first time; while the second-ranked empress, Mystery of Lovely Colors, is exhibited in the Treasury of the International Art Museum of America; and the fourth-ranked little princess Yellow Yellow has been hailed by a viewer —during its exhibition at the Gold Room of a Congressional House office building on Capitol Hill— as “a gift from God to mankind.” These Wondrous Multicolored Sculptures are treasures of art irreplicable by any craftsman, expert, or high technology.
For the first time in the world, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has created an irreplicable art, and one can only say that when the Yun Sculpture appears, the most gorgeous jewels of the world lose their luster, just as the stars all pale against the resplendent moon. Its beauty is truly soul-enrapturing.

I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

I recall that it was 2007. At that time I just changed my job and thus was very busy. Sometimes I had to work overtime for the whole night and still had to work the next day. Doing that for long was more than what my body and mind could bear. I was like a robot working continuously without stop. I felt that human life was just for the three meals and I had to work incessantly.

Also, I had to spend considerable time and mental effort. Therefore, sometimes I would feel sad for no obvious reason. It was until my friend led me to the Bodhi Monastery in LA to listen respectfully to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Then, my whole person was like being fully charged and my heart was filled by indescribable joy, as if I had found a treasure that could let my mind feel satisfaction and pleasure. Since then, I always went to Bodhi Monastery on holidays and whenever I had time.

Also at that time, due to being too tired from so much work, I had chronic headache. When the pain came, it was truly horrible. I felt so painful like being hit by a hammer. My nose bled sometimes too. I went to doctors for that and had all kinds of examinations, but no cause could be found. At that time, I thought about reducing my workload, but was afraid of affecting the work progress. Also, that could not alleviate my problem of headache either. I was very much plagued and did not know what I should do.

Once, after listening respectfully to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, I chatted with a dharma master of the monastery about my physical situation. The dharma master gave me a red-colored holy pill (nectar pill) and let me take it orally. After returning home, I felt that my body was like being pinched by needles, as if undergoing a session of acupuncture. The feeling traveled like flowing throughout my body. I did not give much thought about that at the time. Then, without knowing how long it was after that, I suddenly realized while at work that I no longer had headache or nose bleeding recently. At that time, I recalled the sense and feeling I had after taking the nectar pill and returning home. I was moved to tears. I had this illness of headache for quite a few years. It could not be cured by treatment. I was very excited and shouted spontaneously:

I am grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! I am grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! I am grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! His Holiness the Buddha let me have this karmic condition to encounter the true dharma of the Tathagata and let me receive empowerment physically and mentally. I am willing to continuously make my effort in my entire life to follow H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to learn the true dharma of the Tathagata and I will never stop.

$10,200,000 HH Dorje Chang Buddha III Painting Breaks Record

$10,200,000 HH Dorje Chang Buddha III Painting Breaks Record-2

“Loquat” by HH Dorje Chang Buddha III realized $10,200,000 at Gianguan Auctions New York on September 12, 2015

On Sept 12, 2015 at Gianguan Auctions New York, Loquat, an ink painting by HH Dorje Chang Buddha III, sold for $10,200,000, setting a world record price of $1.7M per square foot. It is the highest price by dimension ever paid for a Chinese painting at auction. The news, which comes amidst concerns about the strength of the Chinese art market in the current period of correction, has been covered by more than 300 media outlets across the globe.

Loquat is exceptional because HH Dorje Chang Buddha III treated the ink as if it were as precious as gold. There are no broken strokes or extraneous marks on the image that focuses on an ascending branch laden with fruit. Elegant by design, the deft brush work culminates in a visual simplicity that belies the hidden power within. The painting carries the bell seal of Dorje Chang Buddha III and a three-dimensional finger print Gui Yuan. The relatively small work of art measures just 31 1/2” X 27 3/8”.

The buyer is an unnamed Asian woman who bid in-person against a field of European and American collectors. Artnet.com, the leading record keeping art-world monitor, recorded the sale in its price database.

As for the impact of the record-breaking sale in an unsteady market, Mrs. Lum, gallery director of Gianguan Auctions said, “The response to this magical painting was overwhelming, especially in the middle of a market correction.”

Further commenting on the correction in the Chinese art market, Mrs. Lum stated Chinese collectors have begun diverting their art investments into real estate. To offset this, the gallery has countered with an action plan that optimizes the reach of the Internet through an Internet-based auction platform. A second-tier plan has been the establishment of a network of autonomous sales rooms in ten countries that operate under the Gianguan Auction banner.

As a result, the auction house has seen Chinese bidders from remote corners of the world entering the market. Their activities are approaching the the mid-range, an encouraging sign that the market is expanding, Mrs. Lum said. She also noted that there is a strong contingent of international collectors that have always been fascinated by the Chinese aesthetic. They are perhaps best exemplified the late New York collector and dealer Robert Hatfield Ellsworth whose collection sold at Christie’s in the spring, 2015. This widespread interest has not waned in all the decades since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1664) when China was “discovered” by Western travelers and missionaries.

Gianguan Auctions, the longest established Chinese-American owned auction house in New York, is now in its thirteenth year. Founder Kwong Lum is a classical artist, collector and appraiser. Originally, the gallery fulfilled his vision as a collector to provide a local salesroom for the finest Chinese paintings and works of art. Today, Gianguan Auctions is an internationally recognized venue.

According to Mrs. Lum the gallery will soon be re-locating to a prime midtown Manhattan block near the Museum of Modern Art. The move to Manhattan’s uptown art corridor reflects the Gianguan Auctions continued growth and positions it firmly among the top international gallery’s for Chinese art. Dharma Assembly of Empowerment by Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva’s Mind of Great Compassion Experience and Benefits Sharing

– “I must have seen a Buddha or a Bodhisattva!”

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! Homage to the greatly loving and compassionate Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva!

I am very grateful for having the good fortune to attend the Guan Yin Bodhisattva of Great Compassion Empowerment Dharma Assembly led by Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui. When the dharma assembly started, I performed the instructed movements for a while. Then my arms felt very tired. I relaxed my arms. Gradually, I felt some cooling air around my arms and also sensed a little static electricity. After a while, the feeling vanished. I still stood there relaxing myself. A while later, I again felt cooling air circulating around my arms. My hands began to tremble and felt more and more numbing. My body also followed to waver forward and backward. The wavering was like being driven by a kind of invisible force and like wavering along with the sea wavers in the ocean. I was unable to control myself but my feet were still standing at the same place. When the wavering magnitude of my body was too big, I lost my center of gravity and felt to the ground. However, the fall did not cause any pain to me. While lying on the floor, my ears started to have a kind of numbing feeling. There was also a force pulling my head to lean back. I continued to lay there to enjoy the numbing feeling on my own. The feeling was very comforting but disappeared gradually. I thought this was the empowerment from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas because I had suffered serious illness in the past. Therefore, I stood up and prostrated toward the direction of the Buddha statue. Then I returned to my original standing pose.

Suddenly, an image dressed with very brightly beautiful and good-looking clothing appeared before my eyes. I was not able to see the face of the image but could tell that the style and colors of the clothing was very beautiful. Actually, it was more beautiful than the dresses I had seen before from the statues of Bodhisattvas. At that time, I thought I must have seen a Buddha or a Bodhisattva. Thus, I immediately began to prostrate.

During the entire process, I kept my eyes closed. I heard very wonderful and ear-pleasing singing as well as crying and laughing. Sound of body movement was also heard. I also generated the joy of dharma for the empowerment received by other dharma sisters.

I am grateful to the empowerment from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the greatly loving and compassionate Namo Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva!

Report of Miracle

By Kent Wilson Long

In the first week in October I noticed some kind of growth inside my left nostril. It looked like a pink skin tag that is about one eighth inch long. About two weeks later I noticed the growth had grown and was hanging out of my nostril. Not only was it unattractive, but I didn’t know what it was. Cancer runs in my family and I started worrying that it was a malignant growth. Since I didn’t have insurance I started to look for a low cost clinic to go to. I didn’t have much luck finding a clinic, or doctor that was cost effective and trust worthy.

I talked to Ningbu Rinpoche about my dilemma. In our conversation she told me about the mediation class the Sunday before, which I missed because I was working overtime. She told me about the story that Qupei Rinpoche related in class about a man chanting the six syllable heart mantra, which had a powerful effect on me. Here is a summation of the story Qupei Rinpoche told.

Reciting the sixth syllable heart mantra brings great merit. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to receive the empowerment of Quan Yin Bodhisattva. Many people chant it and gain good results from it. Today I will tell you about a story of an ordinary man. This man was working with a friend who was a Buddhist. His friend told him about the sixth syllable heart mantra and how beneficial it is to chant. He began reciting it 1000 times a day. He experienced tranquility and a great joy in his heart. Since he liked doing it so much he began to increase chanting the mantra ten thousand times a day.

One day he was invited to a diligent practice event. When he went to the retreat he increased chanting the six syllable mantra to thirty thousand times a day. Several days after the retreat began he saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva appear before him. Quan Yin Bodhisattva’s appearance was very solemn and she was imposingly large and tall. Since he saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva appear before him, he decided to increase his chanting to sixty thousand times a day.

After half a month Quan Yin appeared before him again. This time she took him to the Western Paradise where he saw his own white lotus flower that was the size of a car wheel. The white lotus flower looked very beautiful and pure. It dawned on him that reciting Amithaba Buddha’s name, or the six syllable heart mantra, will help one be reborn in the Western Paradise. Seeing the Western Paradise state strengthened his faith and he now began to recite the six syllable heart mantra seventy thousand times a day. After a period of time he had another visitation of Quan Yin Bodhisattva. She again took him to see his lotus flower. Now he can see the center of the flower. Right in the middle of it is a seat he can sit upon. After this experience he chants even more diligently.

As the retreat is about to conclude he now sees Amithaba Buddha appear before him. The Buddha was as tall as a skyscraper and emitted a bright golden light. Amithaba Buddha was very solemn as he descended from the sky and stood on his lotus flower to speak dharma. The man looked up at the sky and saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva and Mahashamaprapta Bodhisattva standing together. Their image is identical to a picture he had seen depicting them. They were both several dozen floors tall.

Amithaba Buddha began to speak to him. He told him that he would be born in the Western Paradise in the future. Now I will transmit you a high dharma. You must focus on this practice. This will guarantee your rebirth in the Western Paradise. When it is time in the future I will personally come to retrieve you. The Buddha told him to write down all his experiences to help strengthen Buddhist cultivator’s faith and encourage them to practice better. He wrote down his story and that is why we can listen to it today.

After I heard the story it motivated me to sit down to do some serious chanting that night. Before I went to bed I chanted the six syllable heart mantra over seven hundred times. I went to sleep and woke up at around 1:30 AM. I couldn’t get back to sleep so I decided to do meditation for about 45 minutes, which helped increase my energy. Then, ironically, my body was too energized to get back to sleep, so I decided to take a walk in the neighborhood. This was at around 2 AM in the morning. When I got back I decided to chant the one hundred syllable bright mantra. When I chanted this about one hundred and sixty times I felt something wet around my nose. I dabbed my nose with a tissue and found blood on it. I was able to stop the bleeding in a short time. I went into the bathroom to check on it. When I looked at the reflection of my left nostril in the mirror, I discovered that the growth had disappeared. At the place where the growth had been now had fresh healthy looking skin covering the area. I was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to report this to Master. To me this is concrete proof that the dharma is real and beneficial for our life. It has motivated me to put more energy into my practice and when I get spare time I utilize the time to chant.

The Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has changed my life- when no money, no job, no home, and my dear love gone

when no money, no job, no home, and my dear love gone

The Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has changed my life

– when no money, no job, no home, and my dear love gone

It’s a warm sunny Monday in California as I sit in my local cafe and sip my cup of tea. Today, I share my personal journey of pain, suffering and loss and how I have come to experience a joyful and fulfilled life.

I, Patricia Ann Farrell, a disciple of His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III, today will share out of great compassion for all living beings, a personal story of how I transformed my pain from a loss of the dearest love in my life.

In June 2014, I received the news my love, Buddhist brother, musical performing partner, and best friend left this world. I was at my Buddhist temple, Hua Zang Si in San Francisco, CA. As I was speaking to one of the monastics (nun), I received a call that my love had passed away. It was very fortunate to be at my temple when the call came! I could not even speak. I handed the phone to the monastic and went to the Sakyamuni Buddha Hall in the temple. As I cried in shock and pain, I bowed to the visage of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the solemn 22-foot statue of Sakyamuni Buddha (Disciple of a manifestation of Dorje Chang Buddha) The place I was certain to receive help was from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in this time of deep pain and suffering! I was overwhelmed with this notion of such a loss. My pain was like a sharp knife in my heart!

I have been learning the true Buddha-dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for fifteen years and have received limitless blessings over the years which has helped me to transform my heart-wrenching pain into joy and happiness today!

On this day in June 2014, I was told by the monastic, “Patricia, do not worry about your future!” The faith in my heart deep as all the oceans knew this: my pain could not allow me to see through the thick fog of my mind! I knew my journey as a Buddhist disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was going to assist others to liberation and that working through my pain and turmoil was preparing me to do so. Today, I am very clear and certain of this fact!

Almost three years later….I now, share with you deep from my heart, my own truth:

“How can I not worry about my future,” I asked myself. I was on unemployment at the time of his passing with only two months left till I had no money! I would also have to move from our beautiful home and find a new place to live, but how? No money, no job, no home and my dear love gone, all at once!!! My faith, cultivation level and how I would choose to apply my learning from the true Buddha dharma of my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, would be put to a test. I knew my greatest work as a Buddhist disciple to benefit living beings was about to begin!

I received a call from my brother in Florida, he said: “Sister, come down here and live with us, be here with family!” Sure….I could live in a very big beautiful home, no stress, comfortable and safe. That sounded really sweet. I even considered it for a few days! I asked myself, “how can I possibly go towards safe and comfort when there are so many living beings suffering like myself?” I had the “key” to unlock all of the suffering of the world. It would be selfish for me to throw away this key for even “ONE DAY!” I am so fortunate to be a human in this world and have even greater fortune to encounter the true holy Buddha-dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

“NO!”, I shouted in my head, ”this is my own karma and I need to clean it up so I may help others.” This was my vow and deep motivation to keep moving forward with a heart of compassion for my own suffering, so that I may deepen my compassion for others! My cultivation, learning the Buddha-dharma from my Buddha Master, volunteering at my temple Hua Zang Si and assisting my community together, brought me the good fortune of receiving financial assistance from my Buddhist brothers and sisters at my temple as well as a place to live, food and an abundance of loving support from the sangha at my Temple and my Buddhist family!  Within three months, I had a wonderful job and my own apartment in a beautiful small community in the east bay!

Today, almost three years later, my financial fortune has increased, my job is wonderful and fulfilling, my community is growing and abundant, my health is good, and my pain has transformed to brightness and joy in my heart! Life will always have its difficulties and challenges, I do experience them. However, I have great joy in my heart knowing I have that “key” – the key of learning the true holy Buddha-dharma of Sakyamuni Buddha and my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This is the very true reason I was able to be with my pain and deep suffering while continuing my Buddhist studies, volunteering at my temple and assisting others while re-building my whole life from scratch!

I concluded knowing deep in my heart that others’ suffering is my own suffering.

I am neither different nor better than you,

I am just fortunate to have found the key to unlock the suffering of my own karma!

With a humble heart and deep gratitude to my Buddha Master,

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions,

My Buddhist brothers and sisters,

The wonderful sangha of Hua Zang Si,

May all the merits from sharing my personal story benefit all living beings whom are my family to have a happy and prosperous life with good health and an abundance of good fortune!

Amitabha Buddha!

With a sincere and humble heart,

Patricia Ann Farrell, a Buddhist disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

The narrations in this book are all true stories told by Buddhist nun Cheng Hui Shi; what she saw, heard, experienced, and actually participated in during the twelve years spanning 2001 to 2013. Living inside the home base she was able to observe from a close distance, the Buddha and the True Buddha-dharma. At the same time, she also encountered many people with the titles of venerable one, dharma king, rinpoche, and dharma master. The author observed that many of these people seemed unworthy of their titles. Reflecting deeply on her own doubts and falseness she was eventually able to discover her own hidden obstructions. In 2013, she received an initiation of state practice and was transmitted the dharma of Xianliang Great Perfection.
