I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Hua Zang Si!

I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Hua Zang Si!

I Am Grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Hua Zang Si!

I got into contact with Hua Zang Si five years ago due to a very accidental karmic condition. Therefore, I feel very fortunate that I can have the opportunity to listen to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

Last year, due to being taken over, the company I worked for previously had a reorganization. The department I was working at was divided up as a result of the reorganization. Unfortunately, I lost my job that I had worked for 11 years. After becoming unemployed, I was depressed every day. One of the reasons was that my children are still young (in elementary school and middle school). Facing the financial pressure and a sense of loss that I could not explain myself, I just could not feel at ease. I also brought my emotional issues into my family, causing uneasiness to my wife and children. Therefore, the life in my family was no longer as harmonic and happy as before.

During this period of unemployment, I thought about the book Learning from Buddha that I had respectfully received. Within only a few days, I very quickly read it several times from the beginning to the end. I got the understanding that I should rather face and think about the next step with a positive attitude than having my heart filled up with dissatisfaction and bitter complaint. My previous job required me to travel to other countries often. As a result, I was always unable to listen to the dharma often. While staying home and looking for jobs now, I went often to the Hengfu Dharma-Listening Center to listen to the recorded dharma discourses. I am grateful to the discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and to the support from Buddhist sister. I cherished and upheld a mentality of learning from the Buddha and listening to the dharma as much as I can and made a good effort to go there and listen to the dharma every day whenever possible. So I listened to the dharma discourse of Learning from Buddha repeatedly, causing me to deeply understand the causes and effects in this world and think differently in my mind. At the same time, I had the time and opportunities to actively participate in Buddhist affairs and events of releasing living beings from captivity.

After being unemployed for three months, a very uncommon karmic condition caused me to apply for a job at a small company. The position and the nature of the work was quite different from my previous professional experience, but I was actually hired. I was very grateful to the recorded dharma discourses for leading me to think positively and the positive energy I have every day.

After starting the job, although I acted diligently and carefully and tried hard to learn, the experience and the background in electrical engineering required by the job were still very difficult for me. Three months later, perhaps due to the project being canceled by the client and also because of my inability to do the work successfully, I became unemployed again (that happened at the end of May)! Thinking back about that now, although I lost that job, the experience of these three months enabled me to learn some new things and experience. In another aspect, that was also very helpful to our family financial situation and health insurance.

I am very grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for the revelation and transformation I got from listening to the dharma. Because of that, I was able to face the incident of losing my job for the second time with an open mind and a positive attitude. During this period, I also saw some of my former colleagues passing away in their mid-age or after only a short period of illness, leaving their wives and young children behind. I witnessed or experienced in person the subjects of “Impermanence” and “The Karmic Retributions will follow like a Shadow.” mentioned in the recorded dharma discourses. Such experiences caused me to have many different feelings toward human life than before: The most important thing in learning from the Buddha is to truly apply cultivation in our daily life.

I am grateful that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has changed my mental intelligence. Now I try to look at everything or any matter with a very positive attitude and to think and understand more other people’s situations and thoughts. I believe that this form of energy that has been leading me to persistently learn from the Buddha and cultivate myself will definitely and absolutely help me in my life and how I interact with others and matters in the future.

I prostrate to express my gratitude to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

The Karmic Retribution of Reluctance in Making Offerings and Respecting Parents

Here is a story in the Avadanasataka Sutra: At the Buddha’s time, in Sravasti, an elderly Brahman’s wife gave birth to a baby boy. Whenever the child was hungry for milk and as soon as the breast milk entered his mouth, the milk would turn bad. It was the same situation whenever he took in other food. Therefore, this had been how he grew up in a semi-starvation state. After he grew up, he beseeched the Buddha for renunciation from household life. Out of compassion, the Buddha approved it.

After the renunciation, other Bhikkhus always returned with a bowl full of food after they went out to ask for offerings. Yet, he was the only one who returned with an empty bowl. One day, it occurred to him that he had to do something for the Three Jewels. Through the physical work, he wished to eradicate his negative karma. He resolved to clean up the monastery and miraculously, the next day, he returned with delicious food. Therefore, he became even more determined to serve the Three Jewels. This way, he got to have food every day.

One day he slept in and missed the clean-up. Sariputra cleaned up the monastery as he passed by. He was very upset about this and told Sariputra, “I only get to eat after I clean up the place. Now, you have done it. I will definitely have nothing to eat today.” After Sariputra heard about that, he said, “It is no problem. I will go to the city and get food for you.” After he went to a layperson’s house, the couple happened to be in a quarrel. He returned with an empty bowl. The next day, Sariputra told him that an Elder had made a meal offer to the Buddha and the Sangha. The Buddha would take them along. After they arrived at the Elder’s home, everyone’s bowl was full of food, except his. They had missed filling up his bowl. He went to inform the owner about his empty bowl, yet no matter how he yelled out to the owner, somehow, he never could hear him.

After Ananda knew about this, he felt sympathy for him. He volunteered to get food for him the next day. Ananda was known as the first in memory, yet, this time, he totally forgot about his promise. On the fourth day, he finally got a bowl of food. However, on his way back, a dog ran to him and spilled the food. Venerable Maudgalyayana also had learned about this. The following day he went out and got the food for him. On his way back, he took a break under the tree. All the birds in that tree flew down and ate up the food in the bowl. Venerable Maudgalyayana singed, “In spite of being the first in supernatural powers, I also cannot do much due to his heavy negative karma.”

Sariputra could not bear to see this. He made up his mind to find food for him. The next day, he went out and got a bowl of food. When he got to the entrance, the door which used to be open suddenly shut closed with a bang. The bowl of food was hit by the door and spread all over the floor.

Until the seventh day, the Bhikkhu had not taken a bit of food still. He cried out of sorrow and shame. He ended up eating the sand and died. Everyone was amazed by what had happened. They went to the Buddha and inquired about the karmic condition of the Bhikkhu. The Buddha told everyone, “At the time of Indradhvaja Buddha (Sovereign Sign Buddha), there was an Elder who loved to do good deeds and give donations. He often offered vegetarian meals to the Buddha and the sangha. He also had a son who followed after his conducts. The family property was managed by the father at that time; therefore, the son was not against the donations.

After the Elder passed away, the son inherited the property. He became greedy and was unwilling to give. Other than being unwilling to give to the sangha, he also did not allow his mother to make offerings. However, his mother was frugal and tried to save to give to the sangha. One day, the mother told him, “I have nothing left to eat. Can you spare me any food?” He talked back at his mother, “I gave you food, but you gave it away to the sangha. Why don’t you just go and eat the sand?” Later, his mother died of starvation. Due to the negative karma of reluctance in making offerings and respecting parents, he degenerated into the hell realm after his death. After countless of eons he had finally made his way back to the human realm. In the same way, he still had to go through the negative karmic retribution of hunger and starvation. Because he did not oppose his father making offerings to the Buddha in the past, he then had the karmic condition to renounce in this life time. Nevertheless, because of the heavy negative karma of disrespect to his mother, in this life, he experienced extreme hunger and eventually died of eating sand.

This is the karmic retribution of greed, disrespect to parents, and negative speech. In spite of the fact that he had renounced himself from the household life, he still could not escape from retribution. From this, we learn that negative karma can be very horrifying.

The Abbess of Hua Zang Si–Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui

The abbess of Hua Zang Si is Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui. She is a disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. She is deeply and broadly proficient in the sutras, abides by the precepts with pure cultivation, upholds correct views, and possesses high and profound virtue and conduct.

Driven by her endowed wisdom and firm aspiration, Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui started learning Buddhism since her childhood. While she was a young person facing a splendid future, the Dharma Master decided without hesitation to abandon worldly life to become a monastic practitioner. She respectfully quested for the practice of Buddhism, studied the sutras deeply, and cherished the goal of benefiting living beings in her cultivation and practice. Additionally, she demonstrated outstanding virtue and talent in her diligent study and research in the academic arena and received a Master’s degree from the Department of Philosophy of Taiwan University. She made a vow to dedicate her life to grandly propagating Buddha-dharma and broadly saving living beings. She served as the dean of the Chien Fo Shan Girl Buddhist College in Taiwan in her early years and have been continuously making contributions to the education of Buddhist monastics. However, the Dharma Master was deeply aware of the widely prevalent chaotic phenomena in the current Buddhist world, such as confusing views, non-unified sects and schools advocating their own tenets, miscellaneous teachings that are complex but incomplete, and promoting false doctrines as authentic Buddhism. Consequently, pious Buddhist disciples are searching and questing in vain and still unable to learn the true dharma of the Tathagata. Their lifetimes are thus wasted! Therefore, the Dharma Master was continuously concerned about this situation day and night and eagerly beseeched to find the genuine lineage from the Buddha that transmits the true teachings of the Tathagata.

華藏寺住持-2
The Abbess of Hua Zang Si–Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui

In 1996, the Dharma Master had the good fortune to listen respectfully to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. At that time, she sensed strongly and received the bright manifestation of the supremely and perfectly enlightening Buddha-dharma from His Holiness the Buddha! Later, guided by the karmic affinity to true Buddha-dharma, she fulfilled her wish to become a disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Since then, she eagerly and respectfully listened to the recorded dharma discourses expounded by His Holiness the Buddha day and night. Through studying deeply with reference to the sutras, she eventually became enlightened by the teaching! She also received a holy inner-tantric initiation from the Buddha Master, which enabled her to personally realize the absolute truth of Buddha-dharma as if seeing the blue sky after pushing the blocking dark clouds aside. Since then, the Dharma Master abided by the teachings to benefit living beings with loving compassion in cultivation and practice. Shortly after that, she was delighted to learn that the Buddha Master was grandly publicizing and propagating the true dharma of the Tathagata in the Western world. After deep thinking and careful pondering, the Dharma Master decided to resign from the duty of the Dean of the Buddhist College to take up the mission to serve living beings. She traveled across the ocean to the United States to follow her Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. She piously and deeply cultivated in the authentic lineage of Buddhism and engaged in the undertaking of propagating the true dharma of the Tathagata to benefit living beings.

Through the many years, the Dharma Master received true Buddha-dharma transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III in person and realized the key attainment of the dharma. In the dharma mandala, she manifested deeply cultivated power and superior state of realization. Once, she fortunately attended a grand and magnificent Vajra obstruction-removing dharma assembly. At that time, dharma masters and abbots of many monasteries and rinpoches were present. When stepping forward to receive empowerment, almost all of them were subdued by the power of the Buddha-dharma to show a suffering appearance and unable to support themselves by their power of concentration. Only Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui remained firmly unperturbed and successfully went through the holy power of Samadhi. She handled the situation magnificently and perfectly by calm without even any change in her facial expression. For that, she was praised by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III! Additionally, the Dharma Master also received a dharma of state practice transmitted by the Buddha Master in person and attained the accomplishment of crown-opening within two hours.

The Abbess of Hua Zang Si–Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui-3
Hua Zang Si in San Francisco

Since the grand opening of Hua Zang Si in December 2004 to now, the Dharma Master has served at the positions of prior (warden), deputy abbess, and abbess at this temple, which is the first temple of true dharma of Buddhism established in the Western world by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Since the temple’s establishment, her responsibilities cover a wide range of the temple’s dharma affairs and operations including various dharma assemblies, training and education of the monastic personnel, defining the system and rules to manage the temple, and so on. With her abundant and solid knowledge in the theory of Buddhism and the teaching of practicing in silence, experience in managing and operating a temple, as well as deeply cultivated power in meditative concentration, she continuously serves since the beginning as the karma monastic master in awarding the complete set of grand precepts through three dharma assemblies and the professor/teacher of various courses in precepts, rituals, meditation, group practice, education of monastics and others at the Academy of Exoteric Buddhism of Hua Zang Si. She also conducted teaching and training at Buddhist institutions in the United States and overseas. Many of the disciples she taught have now become dharma masters or monastic practitioners. Actually, quite a number of them have even become excellent managerial personnel at some temples in different countries.

The Dharma Master always kept a low-key appearance in her cultivation and practice. She applies patience to carry out the important mission. She is humble and modest and never promotes or publicizes herself. She always sets herself as an example to teach Buddhist disciples with her speech and conduct. Upholding the principle of loving compassion, she quietly devotes herself to the undertaking of benefiting and delighting living beings to enlighten herself as well as others. Moreover, she always upholds the principles, rigorously follows the rules, and adheres to the true dharma and teachings from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. She strives for true realization through concrete cultivation to lead the disciples to advance on the path of accomplishment and liberation. Dharma Master Ruo Hui is an accomplished eminent Buddhist monk whom we should follow and learn from.

On September 10, 2015, the then abbess of Hua Zang Si Dharma Master Long Hui left Hua Zang Si to serve at her newly appointed position at the Hua Zang Buddhist Institute in Los Angeles. At that time, Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui was officially promoted to serve as the abbess of Hua Zang Si. She is deeply aware of the great importance of her responsibility and dares not lax, since Hua Zang Si is not an ordinary temple and, rather, is a temple of true dharma of Buddhism established in the Western world by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, her Buddha Master! Knowing that it requires an all-out effort from her to execute this important task, she is determined to lead the temple’s monastics and layperson followers to work even harder to build Hua Zang Si into a temple of true dharma of Buddhism that truly abides by and practices the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Sakyamuni Buddha to benefit living beings, broadly save sentient beings, and nurture and develop Buddhists with outstanding and excellent talent. In the process of accomplishing this mission, Hua Zang Si will make concrete contributions to the compassion, happiness, peace, and joy of people in America and in the world and to living beings’ perfect good fortune and wisdom, liberation, and accomplishment, and will definitely live up to the high expectations from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as well as living beings!

My Dog Becomes a Buddhist

Hua Zang Si is a temple in the United States that propagates the dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. I have been a disciple at Hua Zang Si since I was in middle school. As a young adult, I gained valuable wisdom and experience attending temple with my family. The blessings I have received are innumerable and I am always grateful for everything I learn from the true Buddha dharma.

My Dog Becomes a Buddhist-2My Dog, Pansy

As the fish release dharma assembly began, being near five other dogs in attendance should have driven her into a frenzy, yet she remained calm and simply paced around. Pansy only barked two times during the whole ceremony. It was a shock to me that she was not barking and crying nonstop the whole time. When the master came over to bless Pansy with holy water, she sat still and regarded everything with a calm disposition. She didn’t bark at Qupei Rinpoche or jump on her. She was very well behaved. As I went down to the dock to release fish, Pansy sat down next to my mom and waited patiently for me to return. On Saturday, May 6, 2017, my dog was able to take refuge with Hua Zang Si temple in San Francisco under Qupei Rinpoche after attending a one hour fish release dharma assembly. I adopted Pansy, in October 2016 from the San Francisco SPCA Mission branch. Pansy is now two and a half years old, but still very boisterous and energetic like a puppy. She is very playful and likes to jump on people. She also barks and runs a lot when there are many people and dogs around her and she wants their attention on her. I was worried about Pansy taking refuge during the fish release because she is often very vocal and difficult to control in crowds.

My Dog Becomes a Buddhist-3Pansy met the five other dogs and they were now Buddhist brothers and sisters.

My Dog Becomes a Buddhist-4Pansy met the five other dogs and they were now Buddhist brothers and sisters.

After the ceremony was complete, Pansy met the five other dogs and they were now Buddhist brothers and sisters. It was a beautiful day filled with a lot of happiness. All the monastics gave Pansy water to drink and pet her. I could tell Pansy was content and happy by the way her tail wagged and her trot around me. I want to give thanks to the sangha, the master, and the Buddha for allowing her to gui yi (taking refuge in Chinese). I hope in the future, Pansy can receive more blessings and have a chance to meet H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. In the future, my wish is for Pansy to reincarnate to the human realm to cultivate and study Buddhism to get out of the cycle of birth and death.

Meeting the Karmic Condition of the “Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions” after Fulfilling My Vow of Becoming a Monastic

Meeting the Karmic Condition of the “Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions”

Meeting the Karmic Condition of the “Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions”

after Fulfilling My Vow of Becoming a Monastic

On January 15, 2017, I attended the annual celebration of “H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Day” held by the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum. After the celebration, we monastics suddenly received a notice to be prepared for holding Buddhist ceremonies. When we arrived at the site, we learned that Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai (also known as Master Xiao Ming), who was the Chief Teacher of Tripitaka of Sutras, Vinayas, and Shastras of the World Buddhism Association Headquarters (WBAH), had entered nirvana in a sitting position with perfect merit and cultivation!

In my memory, there were many times when I stood in front of the billboard at the Sanger Mission viewing a photo that caught my attention. In that picture, many monastics and rinpoches were standing around a loving, kind, and amicable elderly one. This revered elderly one is Master Xiao Ming, the great holy venerable Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai. I had already heard about some uncommon true stories about the Elder Dharma Master. At that time, I could only generate my respect in my heart and dared not have an intention of getting closer to Him. I could never imagined that the first meeting I have now is also the last time. The Elder Dharma Master left us. Now, living beings and I have lost a respected great teacher, and this world has lost a top-level great holy monk. I truly wish the current situation had not occurred.

After Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai’s holy body was rested for worshipping at the funeral home, the World Buddhism Association Headquarters (WBAH) scheduled Buddhist disciples to guard in front of the Elder Dharma Master’s flesh body day and night. They chanted the holy name of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva in shifts without a pause. Also, three grand dharma assemblies were held at three fixed times every day. Every day, in addition to attending the three dharma assemblies, I also chanted the holy name of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva with quite a few dharma brothers at the fixed time of 1am after midnight. During this period, the Elder Dharma Master’s revered face appeared dried, thin and aged, with concave cheeks and deep wrinkles. Occasionally, a silly idea would emerge from my mentality of an ordinary person, “Why is the nirvana of a holy monk so commonplace? Can ordinary persons like me do the Buddhist work for the holy monk?”

A few days later, Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai’s holy body was welcomed back to the temple and rested at the Kuan Yin Hall for worshipping. Buddhist disciples continued chanting the holy name of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva day and night without interruption. Not long after that, Buddhist disciples performing the rituals of the dharma at the site noticed that the Elder Dharma Master began a total transformation in His body. The flesh body manifested miraculous changes day by day. Some people also saw the emission of light and/or smelled special fragrant scent.

On the 11th day after the Elder Dharma Master’s entering nirvana, several dharma masters and rinpoches received a permission from His Holiness the Buddha to touch and press the holy monk’s flesh body. They found that the body was as hard as a stone. All of them were greatly astounded and prostrated to pay respect. They were full of praises and shared their experience with everyone, “The Holy Venerable’s revered body has accomplished a Vajra uncorrupted body.” Upon hearing that, all Buddhist disciples who were present were full of the joy of the dharma.

Every day after midnight, when the dharma brothers and I were chanting the holy name of the Bodhisattva, the spot I stood allowed me to see the Elder Dharma Master’s face directly most of the time. Therefore, I was able to see more clearly the miraculous transformation taking place day by day. From time to time, dharma brothers signaled one another by eyes, “Look, the holy body changed again!”

Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai’s holy body exhibited a calm and peaceful expression, as if He was in a state of concentration. A few days later, all wrinkles on His face disappeared and the facial complexion turned from pale to moistly ruddy. Lust was seen from the muscles and the bone frame became full and filled. The entire appearance turned more and more magnificent and majestic. Even the beard grew longer and denser and had new strains grown. The situation was truly inconceivable!

People all know that all body functions stop after one’s death. Muscles would immediately become loose and lessened and all organs would gradually corrupt and decay. The body would then spread very stinky smells. The situation can only become more and more terrible and could never turn into a better look. This was always true when I saw the remains of my relatives and friends in the past. As I was with the Elder Dharma Master’s holy body every day and facing the holy feat of such miraculous transformation occurring from the Ender Monk’s flesh body after entering nirvana, I now understood. I felt ashamed of my ignorance and repented the stupid idea I had before.

The holy feat of miraculous transformation manifested by Elder Dharma Master Yin Hai after entering nirvana is an unprecedented holy event and created a new record on nirvana in the history of Buddhism. The Elder Dharma Master is a top-level holy monk through the last several thousand years. The source of His dharma came from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. By practicing the Buddha-dharma from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, He realized tremendously great accomplishment that is unparalleled in the world. To tell the truth clearly, ordinary persons like me cannot even compare to a thin strain of hair of the Elder Dharma Master. How could we have any qualification to perform the dharma ritual for the holy monk? What we did was presenting the offering of practicing the dharma through chanting sutras, mantras, and holy names and dedicating the merit to receive the merit returned to us from the empowerment bestowed by the holy monk at the site!

During the dharma assembly, Wang Zha Shang Zun who is at the level of Golden Button Grade 3 made the announcement, “The Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions is not an ordinary dharma assembly. Those who attended the Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions have tremendously great merit and have the qualification to promote one’s grade level and to receive the Initiation of Dharma Affinity with the Yidam.”

When I heard this most exciting happy news, my emotion was extremely high. I am very grateful to Holy Venerable Yin Hai for empowering us at the site with tremendously great power of merit. This short period of attending the holy assembly bestowed me such magnificent reward of good fortune to receive in this lifetime the Initiation of Dharma Affinity with the Yidam that otherwise would not be possible even after practicing Buddha-dharma for hundreds of lifetimes!

Now that the Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions has been perfectly concluded. I thought back what I experienced carefully. What virtue or ability did I possess for me to have such great good fortune and karmic condition to attend the Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions? That was due to the vow I made three years ago to become a monastic to join the sangha and learn true Buddha-dharma for attaining liberation and accomplishment. I also wanted to devote myself to bear the undertaking of the Tathagata. As a result, I gave up the worldly life and came to America to learn Buddhism. Only because of that, I had the magnificent karmic condition to witness the holy feat of the great miraculous transformation manifested by Holy Monk Yin Hai after His entering nirvana and to attend the Holy Assembly of 100 Sessions!

I am boundlessly grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

I am grateful to Holy Monk Yin Hai!

Book of Revelation Presented to Library of Congress-4Dharma Kings and Rinpoches from around the world, Members of the U.S. Congress and Diplomats attended the Library of Congress H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III book presentation ceremony.

WASHINGTON, April 4, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — H.H Dorje Chang Buddha III: A Treasury of True Buddha-Dharma, a book that confers the most evolved and enlightened status on H.H. Master Wan Ko Yee, was presented to the Library of Congress yesterday at an event attended by Members of Congress, the Diplomatic Corps and sixteen Dharma Kings and Rinpoches from around the world.

The book acknowledges and authenticates for the first time that H.H. Master Wan Ko Yee, an international master of Buddhism and permanent resident of the United States, is the actual reincarnation of the primordial Buddha. It is the second time in more than 2,500 years that Dorje Chang Buddha has manifested himself in human form and the third time that Dorje Chang Buddha has manifested in the universe.

The book records and verifies H.H. Master Yee’s spiritual enlightenment and his many accomplishments as a world-class Yun sculptor, artist, poet, calligrapher, philosopher, painter, and medical expert in healing illnesses. More than twenty holy leaders of Buddhism, employing the rules of Buddhism, have formally determined and verified through personal attestations and written proclamations that H.H. Master Yee is the holiest and most honored leader of Buddhism.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Holiest Tathagata is the most compassionate, the kindest, the holiest and the purest being of all. The wisdom of His Holiness is complete, and His learning is exceedingly profound. He is the Buddhist equivalent of the Pope,” said Shih Long Hui, Chairperson of the International Buddhism Sangha Association, who presented the book to Dr. Judy S. Lu Chief of the Asian Division of the Library of Congress of the United States.

H.H. Master Wan Ko Yee was in seclusion praying for his Tibetan Monks and for an end to the conflict and human suffering occurring in Tibet at the hands of the Chinese Government.

Buddhism is a body of religious traditions, philosophies, and teachings all in pursuit of enlightenment and truth. The religion was founded approximately in the 5th Century BCE by Siddhartha Gautama, an Indian prince who renounced his throne to dedicate his life to teaching his insights (dharma) on the nature of the universe and the alleviation of suffering in the world. Having attained enlightenment (bodhi), he was known as Buddha, or “Enlightened One.” The many traditions that make up the worldwide Buddhist Sangha, or society, maintain his legacy by preserving and teaching his philosophy. Buddhism is the fourth largest religion after Christianity, Islam and Hinduism.

Report of Miracle

By Kent Wilson Long

In the first week in October I noticed some kind of growth inside my left nostril. It looked like a pink skin tag that is about one eighth inch long. About two weeks later I noticed the growth had grown and was hanging out of my nostril. Not only was it unattractive, but I didn’t know what it was. Cancer runs in my family and I started worrying that it was a malignant growth. Since I didn’t have insurance I started to look for a low cost clinic to go to. I didn’t have much luck finding a clinic, or doctor that was cost effective and trust worthy.

I talked to Ningbu Rinpoche about my dilemma. In our conversation she told me about the mediation class the Sunday before, which I missed because I was working overtime. She told me about the story that Qupei Rinpoche related in class about a man chanting the six syllable heart mantra, which had a powerful effect on me. Here is a summation of the story Qupei Rinpoche told.

Reciting the sixth syllable heart mantra brings great merit. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to receive the empowerment of Quan Yin Bodhisattva. Many people chant it and gain good results from it. Today I will tell you about a story of an ordinary man. This man was working with a friend who was a Buddhist. His friend told him about the sixth syllable heart mantra and how beneficial it is to chant. He began reciting it 1000 times a day. He experienced tranquility and a great joy in his heart. Since he liked doing it so much he began to increase chanting the mantra ten thousand times a day.

One day he was invited to a diligent practice event. When he went to the retreat he increased chanting the six syllable mantra to thirty thousand times a day. Several days after the retreat began he saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva appear before him. Quan Yin Bodhisattva’s appearance was very solemn and she was imposingly large and tall. Since he saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva appear before him, he decided to increase his chanting to sixty thousand times a day.

After half a month Quan Yin appeared before him again. This time she took him to the Western Paradise where he saw his own white lotus flower that was the size of a car wheel. The white lotus flower looked very beautiful and pure. It dawned on him that reciting Amithaba Buddha’s name, or the six syllable heart mantra, will help one be reborn in the Western Paradise. Seeing the Western Paradise state strengthened his faith and he now began to recite the six syllable heart mantra seventy thousand times a day. After a period of time he had another visitation of Quan Yin Bodhisattva. She again took him to see his lotus flower. Now he can see the center of the flower. Right in the middle of it is a seat he can sit upon. After this experience he chants even more diligently.

As the retreat is about to conclude he now sees Amithaba Buddha appear before him. The Buddha was as tall as a skyscraper and emitted a bright golden light. Amithaba Buddha was very solemn as he descended from the sky and stood on his lotus flower to speak dharma. The man looked up at the sky and saw Quan Yin Bodhisattva and Mahashamaprapta Bodhisattva standing together. Their image is identical to a picture he had seen depicting them. They were both several dozen floors tall.

Amithaba Buddha began to speak to him. He told him that he would be born in the Western Paradise in the future. Now I will transmit you a high dharma. You must focus on this practice. This will guarantee your rebirth in the Western Paradise. When it is time in the future I will personally come to retrieve you. The Buddha told him to write down all his experiences to help strengthen Buddhist cultivator’s faith and encourage them to practice better. He wrote down his story and that is why we can listen to it today.

After I heard the story it motivated me to sit down to do some serious chanting that night. Before I went to bed I chanted the six syllable heart mantra over seven hundred times. I went to sleep and woke up at around 1:30 AM. I couldn’t get back to sleep so I decided to do meditation for about 45 minutes, which helped increase my energy. Then, ironically, my body was too energized to get back to sleep, so I decided to take a walk in the neighborhood. This was at around 2 AM in the morning. When I got back I decided to chant the one hundred syllable bright mantra. When I chanted this about one hundred and sixty times I felt something wet around my nose. I dabbed my nose with a tissue and found blood on it. I was able to stop the bleeding in a short time. I went into the bathroom to check on it. When I looked at the reflection of my left nostril in the mirror, I discovered that the growth had disappeared. At the place where the growth had been now had fresh healthy looking skin covering the area. I was overjoyed and couldn’t wait to report this to Master. To me this is concrete proof that the dharma is real and beneficial for our life. It has motivated me to put more energy into my practice and when I get spare time I utilize the time to chant.

The Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III has changed my life

– when no money, no job, no home, and my dear love gone

It’s a warm sunny Monday in California as I sit in my local cafe and sip my cup of tea. Today, I share my personal journey of pain, suffering and loss and how I have come to experience a joyful and fulfilled life.

I, Patricia Ann Farrell, a disciple of His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III, today will share out of great compassion for all living beings, a personal story of how I transformed my pain from a loss of the dearest love in my life.

In June 2014, I received the news my love, Buddhist brother, musical performing partner, and best friend left this world. I was at my Buddhist temple, Hua Zang Si in San Francisco, CA. As I was speaking to one of the monastics (nun), I received a call that my love had passed away. It was very fortunate to be at my temple when the call came! I could not even speak. I handed the phone to the monastic and went to the Sakyamuni Buddha Hall in the temple. As I cried in shock and pain, I bowed to the visage of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the solemn 22-foot statue of Sakyamuni Buddha (Disciple of a manifestation of Dorje Chang Buddha) The place I was certain to receive help was from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in this time of deep pain and suffering! I was overwhelmed with this notion of such a loss. My pain was like a sharp knife in my heart!

I have been learning the true Buddha-dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for fifteen years and have received limitless blessings over the years which has helped me to transform my heart-wrenching pain into joy and happiness today!

On this day in June 2014, I was told by the monastic, “Patricia, do not worry about your future!” The faith in my heart deep as all the oceans knew this: my pain could not allow me to see through the thick fog of my mind! I knew my journey as a Buddhist disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was going to assist others to liberation and that working through my pain and turmoil was preparing me to do so. Today, I am very clear and certain of this fact!

Almost three years later….I now, share with you deep from my heart, my own truth:

“How can I not worry about my future,” I asked myself. I was on unemployment at the time of his passing with only two months left till I had no money! I would also have to move from our beautiful home and find a new place to live, but how? No money, no job, no home and my dear love gone, all at once!!! My faith, cultivation level and how I would choose to apply my learning from the true Buddha dharma of my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, would be put to a test. I knew my greatest work as a Buddhist disciple to benefit living beings was about to begin!

I received a call from my brother in Florida, he said: “Sister, come down here and live with us, be here with family!” Sure….I could live in a very big beautiful home, no stress, comfortable and safe. That sounded really sweet. I even considered it for a few days! I asked myself, “how can I possibly go towards safe and comfort when there are so many living beings suffering like myself?” I had the “key” to unlock all of the suffering of the world. It would be selfish for me to throw away this key for even “ONE DAY!” I am so fortunate to be a human in this world and have even greater fortune to encounter the true holy Buddha-dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

“NO!”, I shouted in my head, ”this is my own karma and I need to clean it up so I may help others.” This was my vow and deep motivation to keep moving forward with a heart of compassion for my own suffering, so that I may deepen my compassion for others! My cultivation, learning the Buddha-dharma from my Buddha Master, volunteering at my temple Hua Zang Si and assisting my community together, brought me the good fortune of receiving financial assistance from my Buddhist brothers and sisters at my temple as well as a place to live, food and an abundance of loving support from the sangha at my Temple and my Buddhist family!  Within three months, I had a wonderful job and my own apartment in a beautiful small community in the east bay!

Today, almost three years later, my financial fortune has increased, my job is wonderful and fulfilling, my community is growing and abundant, my health is good, and my pain has transformed to brightness and joy in my heart! Life will always have its difficulties and challenges, I do experience them. However, I have great joy in my heart knowing I have that “key” – the key of learning the true holy Buddha-dharma of Sakyamuni Buddha and my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. This is the very true reason I was able to be with my pain and deep suffering while continuing my Buddhist studies, volunteering at my temple and assisting others while re-building my whole life from scratch!

I concluded knowing deep in my heart that others’ suffering is my own suffering.

I am neither different nor better than you,

I am just fortunate to have found the key to unlock the suffering of my own karma!

With a humble heart and deep gratitude to my Buddha Master,

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III,

All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the ten directions,

My Buddhist brothers and sisters,

The wonderful sangha of Hua Zang Si,

May all the merits from sharing my personal story benefit all living beings whom are my family to have a happy and prosperous life with good health and an abundance of good fortune!

Amitabha Buddha!

With a sincere and humble heart,

Patricia Ann Farrell, a Buddhist disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III
